RE: Reese 15,000 lb hitch has cracks in leg

don't you think a weld will make it weaker because your heating up that area. i'm not going to take that risk. my life and others are more important when your on the road. i want to be able to feel comfortable going down the road. i think every body that has a reese hitch should check it. it is hidden by the bracket where the leg bolts to. i still can't get a pic posted, abe

Reese 15,000 lb hitch has cracks in leg

i took my 5vr hitch out of my truck so i could move some stuff. so today i thought i would paint it up so i took the legs off to paint them. boy was i surprised to see one of the legs with about a 1" crack on both sides of the leg. this thing was manufactured in 2000. my last 5vr was to light to cause this, i bought a new 5vr this year but the hitch weight is no where close to the 3850 lbs it is rated for. what would you do contact reese or do like i'm gonna do go out and buy a new hitch with more rating. might use the old one for a boat anchor. will my railings work for a husky hitch #30278. it won't be a reese hitch again. how in the hell do you post a pic. thanks abe

Hole in my awning

we took my son and his friend camping this past long weekend. and the boys were playing with a fork of all things, the camp site next to mine was empty and there was this huge rotting cedar stump in this camp site. they were throwing this fork at the stump and trying to make it stick. well fast forward they got in an argument and my son went in the 5rv, about 10 minutes later his friend walks by me and goes in the 5vr to talk to my son. few minutes later my son comes out and says this thing has been causing us all the problems and proceeds to throw this fork away, well in the moment of anger he went to throw it in the bushes but he missed and put it up in my awning the fork was stuck in there, how do i fix this hole in a new 5vr. do i just order a new awning any help will be appreciated. will duct tape from both sides work. would you take whatever it costs to replace the fabric from his bank acct to teach him a lesson ps. they found this fork in the bushes.

RE: Cracks in Front Cap

i have a 2008 wildcat and the same happened to mine. i got on my 10 ft step ladder to wash the front cap after a trip to 100 mile house and i seen these cracks under my top clearance lights they were about 3" long i took it back to fraserway rv and they fixed it. i hope!! i have not looked yet. forestriver o'ked the repair. On Edit; i will never buy anything again made by forestriver or sold by FRASERWAY RV IN ABBOTSFORD. I HAVE A LIST OF 15 THINGS THAT HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. DON'T TELL ME YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE A BETTER PDI. a lot of these things don't show up till after you used it for a while. EXAMPLE MY SHOWER LEAKED FROM EVERY PLACE YOU CAN THINK OF I RECAULKED THE WHOLE INSIDE AND STILL HAVE WATER COMING INTO MY BASEMENT THROUGH THE WALL. I'LL LET YOU GUYS KNOW HOW I MAKE OUT WITH THE OTHER 15 OR MORE PROBLEMS. SORRY FOR SHOUTING, i get a little upset with this piece of******i bought.

RE: Post photos of your toyhauler

o'k how many have had to forclose on there homes because they are over there necks to the banks. because they had to have all the toys. how many yrs payment do you have 40yrs?. i'll bet most are morgaged through your house. i hope for your sake you won't have to live in them full time in some back ally. i hope for your sake your economy picks up and all will be fine. but watching the news today you had another 100,000 foreclosers last month. the news is telling us here to start buying in states like cal, arizona, florida. 2 of my best friends live in seattle and tacoma and i get updated all the time.

RE: brake problem on new 5vr

it only does it when i'm braking, the slower you go and apply brakes the more noise it makes. i adjust the brakes where they brake even with the truck and they work great one time and the next time you brake the brakes on the trailer pull the truck back and make all this noise, best i can discribe is a gravel truck with all these noises coming from the brakes. hard brake shoes is all i can think it is. had 3 techs look at everything today they showed me everything and it all looked good. i'm lost. could a brake controller cause this problem? thanks abe:@

RE: brake problem on new 5vr

yes they did adjust the brakes, you sure scare the hell out of some people when you stop next to them at a red light, or apply the brakes in a camp ground.:B

brake problem on new 5vr

i bought a new forest river wildcat 5vr in febuary. i have had nothing but problems with the brakes. first time i took it in the brakes were making awful noises, i've heard that same noise coming from dump trucks with air brakes. they said one brake was not working due to a broken wire and it was all fixed. only problem they don't do it when thier cool so after you drive it and use the brakes the noises start. today i took it back again for that problem and the tech took all the wheels off and all drums.they had everthing apart right down to the spindles, they cleaned the drums repacked all bearings, reset the brakes. i live 60 miles from dealership with fuel and lost wages you would think they would get it right the first time, anyway on my way home today it started making the same noises as before but this time i'm getting a squelling noise as i drive. only way to get rid of noise when braking is to turn my prodigy down where i have hardly no braking, i think it might be hard brake shoes they did not agree. when i go back at the end of the month i will demand new brake shoes, if that don't solve it i will go directly to forrest river. anybody have any ideas what it could be. thanks, abe.:?

RE: Does anyone have

i have the 400 series viair onboard air with 2 2.5 gal tanks one on each side under truck mounted with brackets i had made up. i used copper lines not the junk they send you. i have 2 mack air horns hooked up with a quick disconnect so i can use it to air up my tires or use my air tools to change tires if i get a blow out, which ive done. i had a special box made to fit compressor under truck it airs up to 150 lbs only thing visible is air gage in cab with on off switch. get an alumminun box it won't rust. i've had mine since 2002 without a problem. here is their site check it out. www.viaircorp.com. want more info pm me. abe.:C

RE: 12V to 6V Batteries - who has done this?

i have 4 6volt batteries in my 5vr i bought 2 battery boxes that fit 2 side by side 2 in each box. i used the original vent and added another from 2nd box and joined them together to vent out from factory outlet. hope this helps. most rv places will sell the boxes.:D

RE: how do you ignore the pesty fellow camper/neighbor

best way is to get your wife involved in conversation you sit back and get drunk and go to bed. end of story till next morning. then do it all over again. by the end of camping you won't have a clue what was said and you won't feel bad. at least not until wife *****es at you that you left her all alone with these mouth pieces. then apologize and move on.:)
